#175 Valentine’s Day (02/15/13)

Nothing says I love you like, jabbing your loved one with a needle.  Alas, it was not like I had prepared myself for, the worst.  Last night at midnight, my lovely Sherpa wife gave me the HCG shot to stimulate ovulation.  I didn’t even feel the needle.  She is a great Sherpa nurse.  Of the two options given we decided to put it into my thigh. Deb pinched the skin as instructed, and I didn’t feel a thing.  An added bonus is, given my tendency to allergic reactions, I didn’t get the rash that a good portion of people get temporarily at the injection site.  That was a bonus.

For Valentine’s, tonight, we are going to the Hot Springs nearby.  Having a lovely relaxing night, in a lovely hot pool, which hopefully will be the last time I can enjoy such luxury for 9 or so months.

Last night, we noticed that Valentine’s has been a fairly significant holiday for us, without making a point of it.  Our first Valentine’s, we were away on Vacation in Fernie (which I had planned before meeting her), within 2 weeks of meeting each other.  We have been inseparable since.  Our next Valentine’s we got our first together puppy Tuffy.

The following year, we went to Las Vegas; more so because we needed a holiday than because we were celebrating Valentine’s.  Our Fourth Valentine’s (this year).  We are getting the first try at being ultimately creative, and making a baby.  (And going to the hot springs.)  All of these things happened on Valentine’s day, not because it was the day itself, just because of life timing.

#102 Catch up (08/08/12)

Well, the crohns testing showed I do have an area that is inflamed, but wouldn’t tell me much more than that.  Hopefully I hear for a follow up soon.  If not I will call next week.

Today my wife and I had our follow up with the fertility clinic.  We are both fertile, ovulating and having enough follicles, I have 15.  Our sperm choice has been narrowed though, as even though I am CMV positive which means I can choice either donor, my wife is negative, so if we want to use the same donor for each pregnancy, then we need to choose a donor that is also negative for CMV.  (Or infect my wife to make her positive before pregnancy, not an ideal option.)

The down side to the follow appointment was the next appointment I need, to look closer to my polyp.  When I originally saw it on the HSG it looked small, but I wasn’t looking at what the doctor was seeing.  In fact it is about 1 cm in diameter; I got to see the full picture today.  My doctor assured me that isn’t too big, but in the relative size to my uterus, I think it is.  So, early in my next cycle I go for an SHG (sonohysterogram).  It is similar to the HSG except with a saline solution instead of dye.  This will allow a clearer look at the polyp to determine whether it needs to come out or not.  My guess is yes it needs to come out.

I’ve said my body is a hoarder, but I didn’t realize it was also collecting polyps (I’ve had some removed from my colon).  My body needs to go through a de-clutter stage of getting rid of fat, water weight, and polyps.

Weight wise, it isn’t going well.  It seems I reached the 10 pound mark and then lost a couple, gained them back, lost them again, but now they are back.  It seems these are the boomerang pounds that need to be broken of their habit of coming back.  Well, more of I need to get back into the habit of eating within calorie allowances truly, and then more exercise.  Bring back the good habits I was cultivating before the clearing of the house next door.

#98 HSG Testing (07/26/12)

For those of you who don’t know what that is, it is a Hysterosalpinography.  This is more fertility testing.  For the most part it was to see if both of my fallopian tubes are working.  At first my left one was being a little stubborn and not being as cooperative as my right, but with additional pushing, dye, and cramps, we got to see it.  The down side, we also saw a polyp in my uterus.  To me, it didn’t look big; the doctor said we would discuss whether to take it out or not on our follow up appointment, he didn’t seem too concerned.  The follow up appointment is a little over two weeks away, so I am trying not to let this stress me out.

The overall after effects of the HSG weren’t too bad.  During, it was painful, but I didn’t really experience any additional cramps that weren’t coming from my T3 stomach adjustment.  So I guess there are a few times where the HSG isn’t painful all day long.  Phew.

This blog is turning from Weight loss to pregnancy, but I think it is best to keep all my thoughts in the same place rather than keeping two separate blogs.  In my next post, I’ll discuss more on the weight loss journey, or lack thereof.
